Meet the Artist Behind the Blooms.
Hi! I’m Allie — floral designer, grower, and founder of Stem and Shell Floral Design. I create florals that feel personal, artful, and deeply connected to place and season. Whether fresh or preserved, I design with intention to evoke old memories or become part of new ones.
From Garden to Studio
In 2021, I planted my first cut flower garden and fell in love with the beauty of each petal and quirky stem, and found endless inspiration in what I could grow with my own hands. That same year, I began studying sustainable farming and floral design at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, and co-created the Stockbridge Floral Design program at UMass Amherst, a wonderful, creative community that helped shape my path.
A Studio Rooted in Sustainability
Stem and Shell is a floral design studio and micro flower farm, built on sustainability, creativity, and care. We grow many of our flowers and source locally grown and foraged flowers to create meaningful, one of a kind designs. We use reusable materials instead of floral foam, grow our flowers with organic practices, limit our waste and compost materials whenever we can.
Where The Story Begins
Before the flowers, there were shells, stones, and woodland walks.
Growing up, I spent hours wandering through the woods and along Cape Cod beaches, gathering natural treasures and turning them into handmade gifts. That practice of noticing and creating has stayed with me and is at the heart of everything I do at Stem and Shell.
